Submission Declaration
Submission to the Journal is based on the understanding that the article has not been previously published in any other form and is not considered for publication elsewhere.
Conflict of Interest & Cover Letter
The University of Ha’il Journal of Science (UOHJS) requires a “Declaration Certificate” (PDF file) that must be prepared by corresponding author and signed by all authors involved in writing the manuscript. Submission of this certificate is mandatory in order to complete the submission process. The corresponding author is requested to download, print, and sign the form at the appropriate places provided. A scanned copy of the signed declaration certificate should be uploaded simultaneously with the submission of the manuscript.
The submitted manuscripts should have a covering letter and undertaking with signature of the corresponding author. The cover letter should declare the individual contribution of each of the authors to the manuscript.
All papers published in this journal represent the opinions of the authors and do not reflect the official policy of the UOHJS.
Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts should be submitted only online using the email ([email protected] ).
Instructions and support on the process of preparing the manuscript and uploading the files are available online from the submission site.
The manuscript should be submitted as Microsoft Office Word file, and NOT as a PDF file.
The covering letter, and/or any comments to the editor, should also be submitted online, when prompted.
Manuscripts should be prepared within the 3500 words limit, exclusive of tables, figures and references.
Grammar & Spelling
Authors must ensure that grammar and spelling are correct throughout the manuscript.
Particular attention should be assigned to correct scientific names and author citations.
Manuscripts failing to adopt correct grammar and spelling will be returned to the authors.
Reviewers Suggestions
Authors are encouraged to suggest 2-3 competent potential reviewers who would be willing to review the manuscript to accelerate the reviewing process.
The editor has the exclusive right to decide whether or not the suggested potential reviewers are assigned to the manuscript.
Previous UOHJS authors would also be regularly asked to review manuscripts.
All reviewers are expected to reply promptly with useful and constructive comments and remarks.
Preparation of Manuscripts
Authors are required to ensure the following:
The manuscript is expected to conform exactly to the University of Ha’il Journal of Science house-style.
Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts according to the following template:
Authors should ensure that all reference citations in the text match those in the “References”, and all tables, and figures are cited within the text.
Manuscripts failing to conform to the above will be returned to authors for further revision.
The manuscript should be prepared according to the following sequence, with each section beginning on a separate sheet:
- Title Page: this should contain:
- Title;
- Names of author(s);
- Full postal address(es);
- Email address(es);
- Six keywords for indexing purposes (full papers only);
- Name of corresponding author, to whom proofs will be sent;
- Running title of no more than 45 characters.
- Abstract: of not more than 200 words;
- Introduction;
- Materials and Methods;
- Results;
- Discussion;
- Acknowledgements;
- References;
- Tables;
- Figures.
Tables and figures should be limited to six.
Journal Conventions:
Colloquial names should be stated in lower case and accompanied by the scientific names in italics on first mention.
The authority responsible for the name should also be included.
Foreign words, if used, should be italicized.
International Systems of Units (SI units) are preferred.
Measurements should be given in figures (digits), except when mentioned at the beginning of a sentence.
Any number used between “0” and “10”, and which is not a unit of measurement, should be spelled out, otherwise stated as digits.
References:
UHJS recommends the use of citations tools, such as EndNote, for reference management and formatting.
Use of extensive references should be avoided and only essential citations should be included.
References should follow those of the Harvard system and should be stated in the text by the name of the author(s) with year of publication e.g. Adams (2012) mentioned…’ or ‘…was collaborated in the analysis (Smith, 2002; Adams and Brown, 2011)…’.
When citing references with more than two authors, use et al., excluding references having three authors, when all names should be given when first mentioned and et al. used subsequently.
Several references by the same author(s) in the same year should be appended with ‘a, b, c etc.’ after the date.
References should be listed in Alphabetical Order according to the following examples.
Journal titles should be abbreviated according to the latest (4th) edition of the World List of Scientific Periodicals.

Accessibility of Data
All data that is integral to the manuscript must be presented in a clear and explicit manner to enable interested readers to replicate, verify and build upon the results and conclusions stated in the manuscript.
UOHJS recommends all data relevant to the available public repositories (such as GenBank – genetic sequence database), and that are accessible to everyone, should be deposited in such a repository prior to publication.
The relevant linking details including the identifier(s) should then be specified in the manuscript, to facilitate linking between the journal article and the data.
If no relevant repository exists, then the data should be included as supporting/supplementary information to the published manuscript, or otherwise the authors should agree to provide their data upon reasonable request.
Supporting/ Supplementary Information
Supporting/supplementary information provides a useful way for authors to include additional important ancillary information and/or material, with the online or hard-copy versions of their manuscript.
Supplementary information may include supporting applications, high-resolution images, additional tables, datasets, audio clips and any other related nonessential multimedia files.
All supporting information should be cited within the manuscript’s text, accompanied by a descriptive legend.
Proofs
An e-mail alert will be sent to the corresponding author, which will contain a link to a website where authors can download the proof (PDF – portable document format) file.
Acrobat Reader will be required to read this file. This software can be downloaded from the following website: (http://get.adobe.com/reader/).
Further instructions about the corrections will be sent with the proof.
Proofs must be returned to the Editorial Office within three days of receipt.
Proof corrections should be clearly marked using use the PDF annotations function or, if correcting a printout of the proof, recognized symbols should be used. Specific details of such symbols will be included in the instructions file.
All corrections and comments should be returned, either by e-mail.
Significant changes to the manuscript at this stage will only be accepted for publication with permission from the Editor.
